The Woman Of Shunem
In the Biblical story of the Woman of Shunem, she & her husband formed a close friendship with the prophet Elisha who often passed through Shunem. Recognizing Elisha's need for a place to rest, the Shunammite woman built a room above their home for him, brick by brick. Grateful for her generosity, Elisha sought to bless her, and seeing she had no children, he prayed and asked God to grant her a son.
In time, her child was born, but as he grew older and worked in the fields, he suddenly fell ill and died. Heartbroken, the Woman of Shunem & her helper galloped their donkeys to find Elisha and tell him what happened. He hurriedly rode back with the woman and laid upon the young boy to warm him. He fervently prayed to God asking for a miracle for the son to live again. In that moment, the boy sat up and sneezed seven times. He smiled.

In the children’s story illustration, the mother and son are seen sitting on their doorstep watching Elisha disappear down the path. She leans down to whisper, "Kindness always comes back." The boy replies softly, "Kindness comes back."

Our goal is to replicate the kindness of the Shunammite woman, to view all as God's children, show no partiality, and to always be kind - because kindness always comes back.
